“Hello ladies,” a voice spoke out, causing Amara and Jamie to turn back. As they did, a smile formed across Jamie’s face while Amara on the other hand rolled her eyes. He is such a douchebag. Amara thought as she simply stared at the guy, who from the girls turning around had revealed to be Elias.
“Elias, Hi!” Jamie responded in a sing-songy way.
I know this bitch just did not. After we just talked about this dude and everything. I mean damn, she’s my best friend but this girl is almost on the point of desperate at this point. I’mma have to pray for her or something. Amara continued to say nothing to Elias, simply pursing her lips and eyeing him.
“So how are you two doing?” Elias asked, stepping closer to the two girls.
“We’re doing sooo good, how about yourself?”
“Eh, I’ve been better. Can’t complain though, you know?”
Amara folded her arms across her chest. “Oh, we know. We know. You're moody, we get it.” She monotoned sarcastically, as she glanced at Jamie and gave her the I can’t with you, bitch look. “So what exactly made you come over here, El?”
“What do you mean?”
Jamie’s lip quivered. She could feel something coming on. Bracing for dear life, she took a step to the left. “So, what are you wearing to the part-”
“What do you mean, ‘What do I mean?’” Amara barked at Elias, ignoring Jamie’s attempt at trying to maneuver the conversation toward another topic. “It ain’t like we that cool. You never really talked to us outside of the group.” She unfolded her arms as the three of them entered the library and walked up a long flight of steps in the south wing. Passing flight after flight, the three of them climbed stairs until finally getting to a door.
“We have to get you a girl, man,” Nate spoke, taking a puff of a rolled up joint. He coughed some, then laughed for no reason at all immediately after. “What else have you lied to me about? You don’t like none of that art shit, do you? You faked it all, huh?” He took another puff before passing it to Cole.
Taking his puff, Cole grimaced. “Stop being a dumb fuck,”
“And who’s to say if I did you’d be telling the truth?” Nate played.
“Ughh..”
Nate grabbed a hold of the lit joint and took a puff of it. “Don’t worry bro, we’ll be getting you laid so soon you won’t even remember about that vcard anymore. I’ll show you the rope and in less than no time you’ll be a made man.”
“I don’t know if I should be worried about that or not.”
“And I don’t know if I should worry that maybe you might be gay after all.”
Cole snatched the joint out of Nate’s hand and put it in his mouth. Then, he playfully shoved his friend as the two boys laughed at each other the way they used to when they were just young boys playing tag on the playground. It seemed that while time had progressed them appearance wise and personality wise, their friendship was still young at heart.
“It’s not like you tried to talk to me either, you know?” Elias finally continued a few minutes later when they were walking down a long dark hallway. “Why should I make the attempt to talk to you if you never did to me?”
“Did it phase yo thick ass skull that maybe I just didn’t like you?”
“Damn, Mar. Harsh, much?” Jamie responded taking a quick look over to her best friend’s direction. She shook her head and said nothing else, opting to take her hiatus from the argument.
“I think that would have been more effective if I actually cared,” Elias admitted as he touched the handle of a large metal door and opened it. After opening it, the three of them walked outside onto what was the rooftop of the school. They each took a few steps and not to their surprise had been Nate and Cole already there.
“Fucking finally!” Amara shouted, almost sprinting over to take her own puffs at the blunt. “I swear if I had to continue listening to Elias whine any more I would have beat his ass.”
As Amara exaggerated over-dramatically, Elias glared at her.
“Boy, boom.”
