The "Of The Month" Series

It's the first day of the new year! Exciting, right?! With this upcoming year, there will be plenty of new introductions like events, stories/rpgs, and lots of other things our site will be partaking in.

This thread will be the first of many apart of one collective activity. [Writer, RPG, and Character of the Month series.] It serves as the place where I give more information and you all ask/find anything you might be inquiring.

There are three separate awards that'll be avaliable to participate in. Here they are with descriptions accompanying them.

Writer of the Month: will be awarded to the writer who is the most creative and innovative of all the others during the month. The writer of the month isn't determined by post count, but being able to inspire and captivate all the other writers.

Best Character of the Month: this award will be given to the writer who's character is the most intriguing of all the others nominated. They should have much depth, a great backstory, and an interesting plotline.

RPG of the Month: The higest honor of all! To be granted the rpg of the month acknowledgement is one of the biggest things you can be known for. Your rpg shouldn't lack in the plot department and it should constantly be on its toes with new posts. Interesting characters, dialog, and a story that is like no other.

There are rules I will now list:

[/i]] between the dates of Jan. 1 - Jan. 26. Once the deadline is past, those posts written after the 26th will have to carry over into the next month.

Nominations will begin to be taken on the 13th of Jan. until the 26th. You are allowed to nominate one person per category, while also being free to state your honorable mentions as well. There is an option of changing your nominations in favor of another person, but you only get to do so a number of three times a month. After that third time, your choices stick.

Every member of the site is up for nominations as long as their postage meets the deadline requirement. You, however, cannot nominate yourself.

Nominations should be sent to my inbox, not posted in this thread.

There is to be absolutely NO bad mouthing someone elses work out of anger, jealousy, or any other negative intentions. If you do so you run the risk of being disqualified from the month.

No campaigning. It's rude to those people who aren't as popular and might deserve the award over someone who's more popular.[/ul]

This talkback thread solely serves the purpose of asking questions, talking about the competition, maybe coming up with new awards for future competition, or talking about any problems you might have with the competition.

If you need to talk about the site's wellbeing, this is not the place. There is a thread for that, which you will find in the "For the Writers of W.E.E." Board labeled: "Questions/Concerns/Ideas"

Remember, this is just a friendly competition. If you encounter any problem with favoritism, campaigning, or anything that rubs you the wrong way please inform me through a private message. I'll take action if it's needed.

Today it is January 14, the day after I stated nominations would begin.

As of 6:10 PM central time, I have yet to receive any nominations. The only one I have is from Jaya which was sent to me on the first of the month. [We all know how lazy that hoe is and I expect the rest of the nominations from her as well!]

So far, I have been really impressed with a lot of you alls writing this month. People are continuing to step their cookies up and I'm proud!

Keep up the good work!

January 21st.

There are officially five more days left for nominations. As of today, I've only received nominations from 4 people: Eva, Gafe, Gina, and Jaya. While it doesn't surprise me that they were the only ones to write me their nominations, I am quite disappointed in the rest of you all who've yet to send me even one nomination. Remember, if the things you want to win don't end up doing so then you have no real right to complain because you never even nominated something.

Like I stated before in my last post, I am really impressed with a lot of you alls characters, rpgs, and rsgs. Postage from my understanding has picked up and I'm really proud of that!

February 9th.

It's been about two weeks [Please don't quote me on that as I didn't count] since I posted the winners of the January Or the Month results. Because of how successful the last go round was, I have decided to continue for another month!

Starting today, Feb 9th, I will begin taking nominations from you guys for this month up until the 18th.

This time around we will be doing things a little differently. After I receive all the pre-nominations on the 18th, I will send each of you a ballot list in a PM consisting of the nominated writers, characters, and rpgs. You are to vote for one of those nominees for the three categories. I will accept ballot nominations on the 22nd. [If you can not send them in on the 22nd, please let me know immediately. And I'll allow you to send them in sometime after.]

The winners will be posted on either the 26th or 27th depending on when I'm able to post them.

Here's a guideline to those of you who are a little slow:

• Pre-Nominations begin today. You're able to vote for the writer, character, and rpg as you were in the month of January. Posts able to be nominated are those written on January 26th until the 18th of this month. No, I'm not changing the dates so it'll benfit anyone. The posts have to have be written between these times and you'd better believe I'm going to check because I will.
  
  
• Once I've received pre-Nominations on the 18th, I will send out a PM to all of the members of the site. The PM will have a ballot list of all the pre-nominations on for each category they were nominated for. All you do from here is state your vote, including your reasons why you voted that specific thing.
  
  
• I will take all votes until the 22nd. Only those people who've explained to me why they weren't able to vote afterward will get the chance to vote on days after the 22nd but before the 26th.
  

This is not too hard to read so please don't come to me telling me you don't know what this is about. I'm sure it'll be in the recent 20 and a lot of you read that.

As I did last month, I will update this thread when needed. Hopefully I don't have to ask everyone to vote this time and you guys will do it.

February 15th.

There are officially three more days until the nomination period is over. I have to say that I am very disappointed in the lack of nominations that I have received. In seven days total, I've only received three messages from three different people announcing some of their nominations. Those peoples are Jaya, Bri, and Travis.

I'm not going to pester you all to nominate something because that's not my style at all, but I will say that there isn't a lot to work with with only these couple of nominees. If you guys are interested in wanting your work or someone else's work you admire to get noticed, now would be the time to nominate.

February 18th.

Today's the day nominations end and voting begins! I've received nominations from several of you all and I wanted to tell you how happy I am for the participation. From the bottom of my heart, with all sincerity, Thank You so much! It means a lot to me. :]

Okay, so I've PMed the entire site the list of nominees. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with them, I went out of my way to give a description to each nominee. If you're the type of person who doesn't like "tl;dr" posts, I'm sorry, I just wanted to make sure everyone was familiar and up to date with things.
I also posted what I want you all to do, to those of you who do choose to vote, in the PM. However though, I'm kind of unsure if I'll get questions or not so I'll so state it here.

I would like it if you guys replied to the message I sent you with the three winners from the different categories. I would also like for you to state why you voted for that person/character/rpg. [although this part is optional]

You all have until the 22nd to send in votes if you're interested in voting.

March 12th.

Hey everyone, Aubrey back for another month in the "Of the Month" Series! I was very delighted with the outcome of the last month. Participation was up in numbers more so than in January and for that, I was extremely happy with you all. For this month, March, I've decided to go with a different approach in things. No, it isn't a change in the format or categories. Let me shed some light on something before I explain the change.

With this month, there's been a huge shortage of posts for the site. I don't know how to properly explain the reasoning for this because I do not live the lives of you all and am only able to explain for myself, what I will say is that I am not going to stress you all to nominate and vote with only 79 posts from the date I posted the last award ceremony til today. That would be not only disrespectful of me but extremely stupid. Instead I'm going to take a different approach. Like I said above, we're going to do things a little different for the month of March.

After talking to Bry, she gave me this wonderful idea to ignore the posts of this month and do nominations and voting on past rpgs we've been in. Not only was it the smartest decision to make, considering the situation, but it's something I initially wanted to do but didn't for January.

Here's the deal, I'm going to allow you all to nominate anything and I mean ANYTHING from prior rpgs or rpgs still existing til this day, whether they be from this site or from our our friend, The-N. Because this month is so special, I've compiled a list of ten, count them TEN [10] categories and they are:

Good list, right?! I know! Anyway, those are the categories for what I like to call, March: Historical Edition! [Bry's idear] or you could call it "Of the Month": Epic Edition! either way, I would love for you all to participate in this month as I know this is something you've all been interested in doing!

I'm going to begin taking pre-nominations today until the 19th. That's a weeks worth of time for you all to brainstorm ideas for who you want to win. Today, I'm going to send you a sheet that explains the categories thoroughly. After the 19th, I will send you all the sheet of official nominees for March and you all know to reply back with your votes. I'll let you know the deadline for when I want votes in when the time comes.

March 21st.

As you all know, on the 12th I said that the 19th would be the final day to send in your nominations for the month of March. I had a few scheduling conflicts and didn't get to making it be known that I was going to allow some extra days. Because of that, I don't know if some of you all were unsure if you could turn in nominations or not.

Today is the 21st and as of today, I've received nominations from 5 [FIVE, Cinco, V, ect.] people and they are as follows: Travis, Gafeington, Bri, Grimn, and Eva. They all gave me at least one vote, some said they were going to think about other categories. [that's not the point though..] If it's possible, I would like it if I received a few more nominations from people. That way, there could be a chance of there being a lot more variety. I've talked to a few of you who voiced that you were not nominating anything and that's still fine with me just as long as you vote! lmao.

So what I'm thinking is that we'll do it like this, I'll give you all two more days [Today and tomorrow, March 22nd] to either finish the nominations you turned in or turn in some if you haven't done so already.

From the 22nd on, you all will receive a message informing you all on the nominees for their respective categories, with descriptions of each. Then, you all will have from the 22nd until the 29th to decide who you will vote for. On the 31, I should have the thread up announcing the winners! :]

So get those nominations in!

March 23rd.

The nomination period has ended and the voting one has begun! I've sent all of you the nominee list for each respective category and for those of you who wish to participate, I would like it for you to respond back with your votes!

I was unable to provide description for the nominees unlike last time, so I hope some of you do not have any trouble identifying who and what is what.. I apologize for not being able to get some descriptions, but I'll try to have some for the next month.

Remember, you guys have until the 29th to send in your votes. Even if you just vote for one category, I will still appreciate that!
