In the continent of Concord, there are two separate people. The Sapites and the Daguz.
The Sapites, who are almost identical to Earth humans in most ways, aside from their ability to wield magic and their surprising resilience.
The Daguz are human-like people with minor animal features and the unique ability to transform into powerful creatures when provoked. They are divided by three 'species'- Fanged Beasts, Winged Birds, and Scaled Reptiles. The Fanged Beast tribe consists of swift Cats, powerful Lions, crafty Dogs, and well-rounded Wolves. The Winged Bird tribe consists of mighty Hawks, intelligent Ravens, kind Herons, and magic-using Owls. Finally, the Scaled Reptiles consist of the intimidating Crocodiles, the wily Snakes, the ranged Frogs, and the adaptable Salamanders.
On the Western side of Concord live the Sapites, with a few civilizations around the Daguz-heavy East. Divided by counties, sapites are violent and prone to paranoia. The country of Cadonia is a place of constantly shifting powers, with no one man or woman remaining in power for very long at all. The theocracy of Gilead bordering east is known for its cruel treatment of Daguz, and is ruled by the naive King Deimos. Thile, a militant country near the center of Concord, tries to act diplomatically for the two hostile groups, and is ruled by the fiercely intelligent Lady Adran. Many other countries and cities are inhabited by humans, but these three are the most noteworthy.
The Daguz live primarily in the east, with a few exceptions. The desert nation of Sahal is ruled jointly by the Lion King Durga and the Wolf Queen Capitoline. Durga rules the Lions and Cats, while Capitoline rules the Wolves and assists the Dog Prince Lupus in looking after the Dogs. In the Grand Forest, the ancient Owl Queen Whekau looks after her flock of Owls. In the dark caves of the forest, her half-Raven son Corvus looks over the Ravens. And in the mountains of Barella, Hawk King Accipter watches over the Hawks and the Herons, while the Heron Queen Ardea travels in search of a lost nation. Finally, the sunken city of Braile is home to Queen Dylidae of the Crocodile tribe. She watches over the young Prince Caudata of the Salamanders and his adopted sister, Princess Anura of the Frog tribe, and allows all Scaled Reptiles into her kingdom. King Naga of the Snake tribe lives in the harbor city of Septer, with his many subjects. A fourth species exists, but where(and what) they are, no one knows.
Things are not well among the two species. Gilead's generals advance upon the deserts of Sahal, intent upon removing the two primary figureheads of the Daguz Alliance, a powerful army created to counteract the efforts of violent Sapites. However, at the same time, Prince Caudata is marching his Salamander warriors, with some zealous Crocodile and Frog allies, to Septer so that he and King Naga may invade Gilead themselves. The Winged Birds' attempts to remain neutral are put into question as well, for there are reports that Queen Ardea has been captured during her search.
The war is beginning to ignite, but the many royals involved are not the ones who will be in the middle- powerful though they are.
The ones in the middle will be their subjects, Sapite and Daguz alike. But not all Sapites hate Daguz- nor do all Daguz blame Sapites. Many paths are crossing.
