Tyler followed Vinn and Jing out the dormitories and on the way his eyes fell on Nora's. Just like that, she was in his head. A goosebump ran through his back. He'd known about her telepathy for a while now, and it didn't bother him so much anymore. But there was something about having another conscience whisper at him in his head that was nsettling. Tyler's own powers were mental to some degree, and he knew he could muster some sort of resistance to having thoughts being projected on (though the success of attempting so was unclear, as he didn't know the extent of Nora's powers), but he also knew he should not avoid telepathic communication, it was rather private and handy.
Tyler redirected his gaze somewhere else, he mustn't be obvious about talking to Nora through a mind-link of sorts. The gaze looked at Jing shortly before landing on the ground Tyler would be walking on.
She. . . I don't know a whole much about her, Nora. I find her worry considerate, I think. We're all unsettled by Cyrus's disappearance and the implications of what we'll be trying to accomplish. He pondered for a moment. Maybe that was it, they were all concerned about the same issue, but perhaps Jing-Mei's way of showing it was more visible, perhaps it made itself more present than his, or Nora's or Vinn's. He sighed. Before, they'd been a group of several mutants, but no more. Some had disappeared without notice, Davean and Bear had run off to find whoever had kidnapped the waitress's sister, the waitress herself had left them (though promised to stay in touch) and Moss and Jaya would be about to leave them for a while.
The realization that finding Xavier would depend on Vinn, Nora, Jing, himself and possibly Cyrus and Stacey was suddenly huge. It became bigger when he decided that they couldn't rely on Cyrus being there at all. Hopefully, at least Xavier would. Uncertainly, Tyler allowed himself to think about the possibility of anyone else from the Conference having followed Davean's message to D.C. and then found some way to trace Xavier to the White House Lawn.
I don't know, Nora. It's a pretty big deal. Jing does seem. . . odd, but what we'll be doing is no walk on the park. Maybe it's just her maternal instincts. I don't know. I don't think you should let that worry you, not yet, at least. Let's focus on the Professor, sound good? He allowed himself to look at the blonde and smile reassuringly at her. But his own thoughts raced back to Xavier.
What about the people that had been with him at the Conference? What was of them? Were they alright? Tyler only hoped. . .
