Jing-Mei looked up from her notebook and smiled as Vinn led the rest of the group onto the bus. She gestured to the rows of seats behind Moss and herself, and returned her focus to the pad on her knees. Jing-Mei got car-sick (or bus-sick) waaay too easily for her liking, so giving herself something to do would hopefully make things a little easier.
Fishing into her jean pockets, she pulled out her green iPod and unwound the headphones around it, and placed one of the buds into her ear, so that she could still hear what everyone was talking about. Rolling her thumb around the touch-sensitive circle, she selected a song, and clicked down to make it play. Smiling once more as the soft guitar intro began to play into her ear. She slowly began nodding her head, her lips forming the words as she shaded the figures in her book.
"Honey why are you calling me so late?" she sang softly, tilting the notebook so she could see her picture at a different angle. Her singing attracted Moss's attension, who had been staring out of the window to avoid all eye contact, and she looked down at Jing-Mei's lap. Smiling at the young girl, she showed her the drawing.
"What do you think?" she asked quietly.
"V-v-very good, J-Jing-Mei," Moss said, a small smile on her face. "Y-y-you're quite t-talented."
"Aww, thanks Moss!" Jing-Mei said, grinning at the girl, then taking the book back.
"It's really good to hear your voice saying my name, it sounds so sweet," Jing-Mei sang softly, pencilling shading along her own cheek. She was really pleased with how her drawing was coming along. Turning in her seat, she saw Vinn and Treya behind her, with Nora sat with the boy they'd just met, who's name was Tyler, she thought.
"You ok, Nora?" She said, looking at her female friend with a small amount of concern in her eyes, remembering Nora holding her head before. Grinning at Treya, she lifted her notepad over the seats and placed it in front of the girl and Vinn.
"What'd you guys think? I know it ain't great, but I thought a nice superhero angle would be fun!" she said happily. "But girl you make it hard to be faithful, coming from the lips of an angel," she finished, then blushed. "Heh, sorry. One of my favourites."
