Fallen Sky
"Ain’t a soul still alive knows what year it ought to be, but it’s been three-hundred and twenty-two years since The Flash. While our ancestors done tried their hardest to reclaim how we once were, too much of what we had was up and lost the day the sky burnt up. What had long ago been an Eden was blasted into a God-forsaken desert. For a good long while, there was peace that settled on the land as things got rebuilt, but then our ancestors discovered what had been left behind by that shining world long gone. They found metal boxes with something the world from before The Flash tried their damnedest to get rid of… That infernal power to mess with things that ought not be touched. Them metal boxes pushed the people apart and into the clans we have today, fighting over water and more of them things we don’t know hardly nothing about, no one really gaining much of anything one way or the other. And though we don’t much like it, that’s just the way things went and turned out."
Welcome to the distant future. The ruins of a world of unimaginable technology lie buried beneath a vast and all-consuming desert. The human race became a purely technological society, breaking down all barriers of race, gender, and creed as they advanced and spread out amongst the stars. Humanity continued their transformation until such a time that anti-matter became common place as a fuel source, physical controls were done away with in favor of cerebral pattern controllers, and two fusion reactors powered all of earth. Cultures mixed and blended into familiar, yet odd forms.
With the downfall of The People’s Republic of China to the United Nations in the Fourth World War, Japan claimed sovereignty over the majority of Central Asia. The European Union, The American Autocracy, and The Noble Empire of Japan formed a joint alliance of peace, technological advancement, and deep space exploration. European culture was mostly lost during this time, in a favor of a blending of the fascination for ancient American culture of the late first millennia and Japan’s ancient feudal system and animated entertainment. Despite several movements for the protection of individual cultural identities, all was generally peaceful during this time as every citizen of the Triumvirate had more than they possibly needed. And then, the unthinkable occurred. The two fusion reactors which powered the whole of planet earth’s infrastructure were sabotaged by underground terrorists, causing an atmospheric chain reaction, destroying the ability to sustain lush life as the planet once had.
From the ashes, survivors arose, only to find their way of life utterly and irreparably lost. Relying on what they could find, and those whose skills were still pertinent, civilization was slowly rebuilt in the style of ancient America, while those who knew the secrets of ancient Japan did their best to revive the practices of self-defense and combat which had served their ancestors long before. Decades later, the children and grand-children of the original survivors had pulled together a humble existence, occasionally defending themselves with traditional swords and pistols enhanced by what gadgets they could find, until the discovered several metal containers which held powerful remnants of the lost technology which had strengthened their ancestors. With such power at hand, in-fighting ensued and the clans broke from one another based on what technology they had succeeded in recovering. Thus, began the clan wars which wage on in the city of Los Angeru today.
