Connection.
Some people have it but don't know about it.
A prime example of this is the planet of Feriath. It features two distinct countries, Garnay and Tiyen. The people of Garnay are used to harsh, sandy conditions with little shade or water. They possess a genetic mutation that allows them to survive on little to no water. The Tiyen, however, live in soggy wetlands with the animals. Their skin is permanently wrinkled from the waist down, due to their ancestors spending almost all of their time in the mud.
Farther down the universe, the planet of Janu exists. The people there have only one race, one voice, one decision. They live peacefully with little diversity.
These two planets seem completely different, being several lightyears away, however, that's where connection comes in.
Janu is the same planet as Feriath, but in an alternate reality. A reality where the terrain became mountainous and the people became all the same.
With all connection, there is conflict.
The Tiyen and Garnay of Feriath are constantly at war with each other. They're too different. Originally, the war started over land, but at this point there is little reason to be fighting anymore, seeing as both species have evolved so that living on the other species' land would be near impossible.
Recently, the Garnay have invented a missile that creates large craters in their planet. They've already wiped out the Tiyen capitol (it took 8 missiles but still was a massive blow to the Tiyen). There is now a 50 foot hole where the capitol used to be.
And this is where the Janu come in, bewildered and hurt. Beneath them, in the exact coordinates of the Tiyen capitol, but on their planet, the ground sunk 50 feet, taking a few lives.
The problem is that the planet of Janu only has a 600 foot diameter. If the people of Feriath were to continue bombing that one spot, Feriath would not suffer too much, that wouldn't even make it to the center of their planet. But Janu would have a hole in it, and without a central mass, it would probably implode on itself or crash into a neighboring planet in its system, and since Janu is an alternate reality of Feriath, were Janu to fall apart, the exact same thing would happen to Feriath.
There is hope, however.
A Tiyen scientist has invented an all-natural communications device that allows Feriath to speak to Janu.
Will the Tiyen know what to do with this device?
Will the people of Janu warn the people of Feriath of what's to come?
Will the war ever end?
Will the Tiyen share the communications device with the Garnay?

So this is a pretty old idea of mine and it's very special to me. I'd like for it to turn out well.
Rules Are As Follows:
1. NO FUCKING MARY SUES. You have no idea how much these bother me and if your character is even borderline Mary Sueish you WILL NOT be accepted! (for those of you who haven't been paying attention in class, a Mary Sue is an incredibly powerful character that takes over/ruins the RPG with its lack of weaknesses)
2. No godmodding, as usual.
3. The rest of the normal jazz.
Character Choices:
You may be a Garnay or a Tiyen.
Government officials of both countries will most likely be needed.
Characters on Janu:
Will be irrelevant unless they are near the communications device, in which case they are needed.
The Tiyen scientist who created the communications device is officially taken by me.
On the subject of inter-species relationships:
All three races are physically capable of interbreeding.
The Janu are too far away to reproduce with the people of Feriath.
Tiyen and Garnay relationships are very uncommon, even in friendship, as the people physically repulse each other, however a kindred soul who can look past the disfigurement would be capable of making friends or forming other relationships with the other species'.
To recap on appearance:
Janu look perfectly human. Usually they are beautiful, pale people of mountainous regions.
Garnay also look pretty human, apart from usually appearing skinny or malnourished. Their skin is dark due to heat from their mother star.
Tiyen people look human from the waist up, of varying skin tones though usually a duller color than tan (you know how tan people look when they're not around the sun after a long time? Kind of greyish but still tan?) and their bottom half is incredibly wrinkled, like its been in the bath for all its life.
