It’s collapsing underneath me. The whole street is a hole. Now the whole city is a hole. I realize I’m screaming. Down we fall, to the centre of the earth. Above us, around us, the rest of our world remains ignorant. But our city is a hole, an empty shell of what it once was. I look up. The skyscrapers are tumbling down onto me. I know I’m going to die. But all I can think is:

“Where did the hole come from?”

Welcome to earth, circa 2140. Holes are appearing in the planet’s surface, causing random craters in the middle of cities, or just an inexplicable hole in the wilderness. The leaders of the world have come together in this catastrophe and put forward their most gifted individuals to build a training center for child prodigies to figure out what is happening.

The Aznable, a high-tech school meant to train these prodigies, is said to be the only place safe from the holes. Nobody knows how, or why, this school is protected. All they know it holds their last hope to stop the holes.

But the holes are not the only problem. From above, past Mercury, past Venus, is Mars; home of the humans who left Earth 100 years ago to settle a new planet. Now each planet looks upon the other with contempt, and skirmishes in space are not entirely unheard of. Spaceships capable of fighting are only a recent discovery on Earth, but Mars has had them for the past 20 or so years.

And beyond that, there is the threat of war on Earth looms over everyone's heads. The four alliances of Earth, The EU, the Asian Federation, The NA League, and the African Federation, control the world. The UN still exists, but is little more than a glorified scapegoat for all of Earth's problems. None of the four alliances trusts any of the others after so many years of wanton destruction, and even the countries in the alliances are suspicious of each other. It would only take the tiniest straw to break the immense tension and cause total war to engulf Earth.

So these children, these geniuses gathered from all corners of the Earth, are the only hope to stop the constant warring between virtually everyone. They must stop the holes. They must stop Mars.

They must not fail.

Now as explained above, top scientists are using child prodigies (ages nine to fourteen) to help figure out what's happening with the holes.

Now, I know how ya'll like to get creative but there are a few rules..
1.) You may only be a child.
2.) The older the child is, the less intelligent they are perceived to be, but the more experience he or she has.
3.) You may come from anywhere in the world, however all the children are being held in the Aznable.
4.) If you make a female character, you must also make a male. This is to provide a slightly more 'realistic' gender ratio. If you make a male, it is not required to make a female, although if you want to it's fine.
5.) Apart from that, anything goes, and myself and Eva will be in touch in case you happen to step out of bounds.

Before our protagonists entered the Aznable, they were trained for a short period at Preparation Center. Their Prep starts at age eight and can last to sixteen(the age at which they are declared unusable). If you show use, then you are taken to the Aznable.

But you are new here. For quite a while, there's been someone better at whatever you do. They are the highest ranked students in the school; perhaps they excel at science, or combat training, or tactics. It matters not. They are the top ten regardless of what their specialty is. It may not stay that way. Perhaps some day, you will prove yourself to be much more competent than they. But for now, these children are The Elite.

What makes them so special? Other children are drawn to them...as if they hope to catch some of the glory for themselves. Each one of them holds so much clout, their mere presence seems to inspire awe- even among other prodigies. But we do know one thing.

::Name:: Mischa Doyle
::Age:: 10
::Appearance:: Mischa has dirty blonde hair that is cut into a messy 'bob', except not as fashionable. She cut off the bangs on her left side and brushed the ones on the right to the side. Mischa's skin is pale, but you can tell that she's not 100% Caucasian still. She stands at 5'3 and isn't very strong. Mischa has large brown eyes.
::Specialty:: Piloting
::Personality:: Mischa is demanding and egotistical, and her acceptance to the Aznable has made her quite full of herself. She refuses to accept the possibility of being inferior to anyone except those she worships. Speaking of which, Mischa has a rather extreme tendency to form attachments to others she views as 'amazing'. On her first day at the Aznable, she met Megumi Takahashi, and pretty much idolized her at first glance. Mischa can do pretty much anything she sets her mind to, and has good attention span.
::History:: Mischa is from Australia. Her parents are both native-born Australians, although her mother has some Italian in her that lead to a slightly olive ting to Mischa's skin. Mischa had a normal life up until she was five, at which point she suddenly became much more advanced than any other child around her. Naturally, her parents realized what this meant and contacted their nearest UN office to tell them that they believed she was a Chosen child, one of those savants that seemed to be popping up.
It did not take long for Mischa's talent to become clear. She was quite intelligent, and although her stubborn behavior made it difficult to get consistent results from her, she seemed fit enough to go to Preparation Center. It took two years for her to be certified to enter the Aznable. At first she had trouble deciding on her specialty, but upon meeting Takahashi, she knew that she wanted to be a pilot. Why waste time thinking when you can act?

::Name:: Gabriel Laberee
::Age:: 11
::Appearance:: Despite his insistence on being pure French, it's quite obvious that Gabriel has African heritage due to his very dark skin, facial structure and dark eyes. His hair, however, is straight and messy, a chestnut brown color that's lighter than his skin. He is tall for his age at 5'5", but because of that is very skinny and almost unhealthy looking. He is slightly muscular but you don't notice that as much as the skinny. Despite his appearance, he's moderately strong but has no sense of central balance due to a lot of growth in a short period of time throwing him off.
::Specialty:: Combat
::Personality:: Gabriel doesn't have a short fuse, he's just endured a lot of ridicule in his lifetime and is therefore very defensive when people talk about him. This can sometimes lead to him making rash decisions that he will sometimes regret later. He is naturally an introvert but can sometimes force himself to be outgoing, and will also leave his shell when he is angry. He won't bow down to people even if he seems like a pushover at first.
::History:: Gabriel was born in France, and speaks fluent French, however learned English as a second language gradually starting at the age of three. Because of French being his first language, he has a strong French accent when speaking English but is still comprehendable. From Kindergarten through to grade three, he was perceived as unintelligent, even being tested for brain deficiencies. This coupled with his unusual height even back then, along with his girlish name caused him to get bullied frequently, even by people shorter and weaker than him. He allowed himself to be pushed around for a long time before he taught himself to fight. At grade four he somehow lurched ahead of his classmates and became a straight-A student, stopping most of the bullying he endured, though some still happened at the hands of the other smart students. His accomplishments caught the attention of the government, due to his 100% mark on the test they send out to grade four students. He earned a scholarship to private school, in which he continued to receive optimal marks. At ten years old he was sent to a Preparation Center where he studied for a year before being accepted into the Aznable. He decided on a combat specialty due to his past of being bullied, and despite him believing it took less intelligence than the other specialties, he felt that he was a good fighter due to his past of being bullied and learning to fight them off.

Name: Yvelis Montgomery Aquino. "Monty"
Age: 12.
Nationality: Filipino.

Appearance: Monty is an exceptionally beautiful young girl. She’s a great example of people who are both pretty inside and out. She stands at five foot, two inches and has a very slim body frame. She is of a Filipino decent with a dark olive skin complexion that never changes tone throughout the year considering it doesn’t tan or get lighter. As she’s still somewhat considered a child, Monty’s face has not fully grown out. It still maintains quite a great portion of chubbiness [mostly in the cheeks]. Her eyes are oval shaped and are dark brown in color, while her nose is wide with a medium sized bridge. One of her biggest traits would be her smile as it differentiates her from other girls around her. When Monty is smiling all eyes usually gravitate toward her direction. She has long dark brown hair that is almost on the verge of being considered black. It falls just a tad bit past her shoulders.

Specialty: Planning.

Personality: Monty in very few words is bubbly. She has so much personality full of enthusiasm even for such a young age. There’s such a freshness about her that many kids at the Azanable institute lack. She’s intelligent like them, but she doesn’t let that define who she is. She chooses to be effervescent because that’s a quality she finds to be much more personable compared to just being known as a brain. Her perkiness though can sometimes get in the way of things, as people think less of her. Her attention span is very low and she is constantly doing things to stimulate her mind/keep her from being bored. She’s pretty loud and sometimes has a wandering mind, despite doing an excellent job in the planning field. She’s young though and with all young people there is more room to grow. Monty is immature compared to some of her colleagues, yet she’s much more of a social butterfly than they’ll ever be.

History: Monty’s story isn’t very extraordinary to say the least. She was born in Quezon City, the largest populated city in the Republic of the Philippines. Her mother, Catherine runs an elevated light rail system, while her father, Emilio works in the catering business. She has five older siblings, meaning that she is the youngest of six. [There are four brothers and one sister] Growing up, Monty never fully took a liking to her first name, Yvelis so instead she preferred everyone to call her by her middle name, Montgomery, a name given to her by grandfather before he had passed away shortly after her seventh birthday. With her bright personality and intelligence, she transferred to many public schools until being placed in a private school as both her mother and father insisted she get more than a great education. After successfully getting great grades, the government proposed to her parents that she be sent to a Preparation Center to begin training to get into the Azanable Academy. It took her exactly one year, and six months to be accepted into the Academy, an accomplishment she is very proud of.
She took a liking to planning, as it was a fine balance of smarts and creativity. She admires James Coulhan’s [US] as the top student in planning, but she intends to take his spot as one of the school’s Elite.

Extra: Carries three different notebooks, an organizer, and loads of pencils, pens, markers, and crayons. She loves collages and is constantly humming to music only she can hear in her head.

Names: Annie and John O'Driscall
Age: 9
Nationality: Irish

Appearance: They are twins, one boy and one girl. Both have pale skin and blonde hair- John's is cut short and Annie's is long and completely straight. They are thin and are 4 feet 9 inches tall. They've almond shaped eyes, but their eyes are their most disturbing feature. John's left eye is blue, his right eye is brown; Annie's left eye is brown and her right eye is blue. Starting to get creeped out yet? Their lips are thin and they have sharp, angular faces. They might've been pretty if they weren't so hard to look at.

Specialty: Intelligence.

Personality: They are similar to robots. They don't seem to feel, to care, to like anyone other than themselves. They have no sense of loyalty other than to each other. They enjoy hurting others- not physically, but mentally. They can look at a person and together they understand the person completely. They are cold, calculating and too smart for their own good. If they don't like you, which is everyone, you will be made to feel like you are only a few inches tall. They get what they want. Always.

History: They were born in Bray, Ireland (right next door to yours truely) and from the day of their birth they disturbed everyone around them. Parents included. They learned to speak fully when they were one and had mastered reading by the age of three. It wasn't long before they were able to dechipher anything- from people to pieces of paper. They looked, and listened, and learned. They learned how to break people down by simply staring, and soon they could break people down by saying the right thing. They practiced it alot on their neighbor, Kate. WHen they were old enough to go to school, they were transferred- over, andover and over again. People seemed to have a problem with the twins who knew things they shouldn't, and in their minds couldn't, know. School to school they went. Learning secrets, using them, and exploiting others. Soon, the government noticed their abilities and asked their parents to send them to the Preparation Center. Their parents- glad to be rid of them- agreed. The twins were accepted into the Academy on their 9th birthday, just 10 months after the arrived at the Center. The adults at the Center simply couldn't stand them anymore. Intelligence is their game, hide your secrets if you can.

Name: Wyatt Liao.
Age: 13.
Nationality: Chinese-American.

Appearance: Wyatt stands at five feet, three inches and is quite the adorable Asian boy. He has a slim body frame with a smidge bit of muscle on his arms from pee-wee sports and dance that he’s engaged in from a very young age. His skin tone is a very lightly tanned olive shade that has a teensy dab of a dull pale yellow mixed into peachy/apricot-y color. His skin tans very easily while exposed to sunny environments, but he likes it at a much lighter shade like it is now. For a youngster, his facial features have begun to pronounce themselves very well. He is currently on the border of leaving childhood and entering the being of young adulthood. He has a triangular shaped face, with a strong jawline and chin. His eyes are almond shaped with a dark brown hue. His nose is wide as well as the bridge. His lips are thinly shaped, the top one more so than the bottom and they are a light pink shade. His hair is black and is cut into a short cropped fauxhawk that he loves very much. With more age, Wyatt is trying to shed as much of his adorable features as possible. It isn’t helping that he’s as cute as a bear cub, but one day he will be the tough bear instead.

Specialty: Diplomacy.

Personality: Wyatt is a leader. He has always found ways to divide himself from the pack and allow people to follow alongside him unlike the other way around. He, for the most part insists that he be someone who inspires others when he grows up and because of that he has refused to conform in a similar behavior as some of his counterparts. He’s pretty darn courageous and is willing to do anything that would better himself for the future. There’s a boldness quality to him that many children fail to display at a young age. He is tough for just being twelve years old, you would think that he were much older although he isn’t. With being a great leader, one needs to be quite social and display a helping hand whenever they can. Wyatt is exactly that and then some. One bad quality he possesses is he is extremely stubborn. When he’s mind is set on something, he isn’t willing to change his opinion about something. In addition to his hear-headedness, Wyatt is always questioning other’s people’s motives. He’s naturally curious, causing him to inquire things he shouldn’t get involved with. He’s quite the control-freak as well, but not to an excessive extent. He also seems to put up a big front of how venturesome and lionhearted he is. There’s a very soft side to him that he chooses not to reveal to anyone because he isn’t comfortable with doing so.


History: Wyatt was born in Atlanta, Georgia to a very successful family. His mother, Jun Liao, is a very big named Asian journalist in the nation, while his father, Gregory is a Sergeant in the military. His parents divorced when he was four years old, but both parents proved to be tough on their four boys even with them moving across the country multiple times. Around the time he was six, he and his brothers moved to Los Angeles to live with his father, and by eight he lived in New York City with his mother. If he had learned anything from the m though it was that no matter where he went he needed to make a great first impression with any new people he were to meet. Out of his older brothers, he had always seemed to be the child who was much more of a brain so it was evident that that would take him far. He was always more intelligent than his peers at school and even his own teachers, it was pretty alarming for most of his teachers, principals, and even his own parents. By the time he was 10, he had been approached by the government to attend a prep school that would get him ready to attend the best Academy in the world, Azanable. Without hesitation, his parents shipped him off.
While in the prep, Wyatt was well received by the other kids but his test scores didn’t gain him automatic acceptance into Azanable. It took him three years before he could finally pass the prep period and move on to the actual school.

Extra: Speaks Cantonese and English. [Is currently learning an assortment of other languages such as French and Spanish.] Can play several different types of instruments, but the Piano happens to be his favorite.

Name: Ticus
Age: 9
Appearance:

Specialty: Language

Personality: He suffers a severe form of ADHD, and is on a chronic sugar-buzz. He never goes without some form of sweet in his pocket, most often in the form of the beloved Pixie Stick. Naturally, his… energetic attitude wears on some people really quickly, but it can also boast morale at times.
It's a bit of a miracle that he learned the 337 languages he does know (including Russian), but of all the topics out there, it is the one in which Ticus manages to channel and control his energy. Give him big red button, and he'll blow the world to Kingdom-Come; but give him a chance to speak, and his words will take your breath away.

History: Ticus was diagnosed at age 5 with ADHD, much to his mother's relief. Pills could help her child, give her a sound night's sleep--until Ticus discovered the joys of sugar. His mother quickly gave up on the pills, and chose instead to fight her way through the next 13 years so that her son could possibly learn some control. On a rare trip to the library, Ticus managed to escape his child-leash. Fearing the worst, his mother started a mass panic to find her son; it ended in a round of roaring laughter when the 'demon-child' was found in the smack middle of an aisle, learning French like none-other. From then, rearing Ticus became infinitely easier for his mother--when he gets rowdy, give him a language book.
Ticus soon began showing incredibly adeptness with linguistics; his translations of famous works such as The Inferno and The Aeneid began revolutionizing literature scholarship. It came as no surprise when the government approached him, wanting to send him to a prep school. His mother, although saddened by the distance that would separate her from her baby, was a bit relieved and quickly said yes.
It took Ticus exactly 13 months to move through the prep school and on to the academy, during which he gained over 100 new languages.

Age 14

Specialty Tactics

Appearance Though he is one of the older children, he is rather short; standing at only 5'0. George is the typical red head in his appearance. He has light skin and a lot of freckles. The only thing he doesn't have like a red head is red hair. His hair is actually black. It contrasts not only with his pale skin but with his bright blue eyes that are similar to a warm ocean. It appears blue, yet in many ways clear--showing many depths. George has always been a think kid, no matter how much he eats. Though he is thin he is not frail. Being trained in Tactics and not anything physical he has never reached his full potential fitness wise.

Personality George keeps to himself mostly. He's not really a leader but he is no follower. He doesn't try to be a leader because he sees no need to, someone else will do it. He just likes to do his thing and let others do theirs. He can be a little socially awkward and doesn't know how to have a normal conversation. People think him rude because he mostly nods and doesn't say much. He isn't trying to be rude, he just can't think on his feet when it comes to socializing. This is slightly ironic considering he specializes in thinking on his feet and coming up with new ways to accomplish the task. If one thing doesn't work he has to figure out a new way until one does work.

History He grew up as an only child and his parents didn't like him to play with other kids in the neighborhood. They thought they were better than everyone else and didn't want him being around anyone below his status. Every now and then he played with his relatives but that was not too often. Especially since his parents would rather have him studying than being around other people. George spent much of his days locked in his room doing whatever work his parents asked. But luckily they did not watch his every move so he was able to play games while working. Most of these games were war simulation, that's what started his ability and interest in tactics. When his parents found out he was picked to go into the special program they were thrilled and didn't care that they might never see their son again. This meant he was more special than anyone else and that made them feel special because neither of them were really that amazing at anything.

::Name:: Johan Lichter
::Age:: 14
::Nationality:: German
::Appearance:: Johan has recently hit a growth spurt, so he is a bit taller than most other boys around him. He hasn't been measured since the spurt, so he is still officially listed as 5'5. He has dark brown hair, mistakable for black in the dark and reddish when hit by sunlight. It trimmed into a 'fade' style, manageable but still unique. Johan's skin is slightly pale, but not albino or sickly looking, just a tad bit lighter than average. His eyes are a very light amber that some adults, the annoying kind, call yellow.
::Specialty:: Physics.
::Personality:: Johan is a loner by nature and doesn't really get along with anyone. He limits himself to those he must work with. However, he is not a mean or antisocial person. He gets along quite well with his science partners, and can be very charming when he actually tries to open up. Still, he is reluctant to be the center of attention or have people know about him.

Name: César Francisco Medranda
Age: 10
Nationality: Ecuadorian
Specialty: Martian Studies

Appearance: César Francisco (called Franky every now and then) is a boy who's short for his age. He stands at four feet, three inches under most other kids at the Aznable. Most of his body retains the chubbiness characteristic of young children, and his face has been considered exeptionally cute every now and again. His eyes are a very dark brown color and also rather small, feature fixed by his glasses, which appear to make his eyes grow to an average, if still a bit small, size. Incidentally, the glasses add to the cuteness factor.
His skin holds the permanent tan of those that come from a Latin American family/country/both. His hair, of course, is much darker (black) and cut short with no regard for hairstyle whatsoever. To his dismay, he is easily confused for a much younger kid (especially due to the lack of eyebrows), but he is officially ten!

Personality: Let's understand one thing here, Franky's zone of specialty is Martian Studies: that which occurs and thrives in the red planet. As such, he's adapted some habits Martians have (which, for the most part, are still not too different from Earth's) to his attitude, gestures and lifestyle. This makes him come off as an eccentric boy. Not to say he isn't, but he's still a kid. An eccentric kid will always be less weird than an eccentric adult.
He does not have the initiative to be the one to being a conversation, unless the situation demands it, but he's an average talker once talked to. His speech isn't exactly average, though. He likes to use big words and may bring uncommon topics to the table. When he's frustrated or excited, he might even speak in Spanish phrases and words. Most people (save possibly the Language kids) have trouble following his mouth.
Franky has little social education and has taken a long time adapting to social norms (like, he used to eat with fork in one hand and knife AND spoon at the same time in the other), so his actions might also seem a tad strange. This fact is worsened by the simultaneous adaptation of Martian culture into his behavior.
But all in all, Franky is still a kid that tends to daydream, play with toys and ask for an extra serving of dessert. So please, give 'im one more piece of jello pie.

History: César Francisco was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to a pair of common parents. He was the third child of four and raised by a stay-at-home mom and an insurance worker dad. His mother had an uncle who had friends over in the Mars (though none was sure how they contacted them) and this uncle grew to be Franky's role model. The man was nothing special, really, but he developed a bond with the boy at the latter's toddler age which translated to a deep bond by the time Franky entered elementary.
Everyday, after school, César Francisco would run home, eat his lunch, and plead his uncle for stories form the 'people of Mars'. His pleas were answered almost every single time. This is how the boy got his first insight into Martian culture.
Alas, at age seven, his father was promoted within his company and the family had to move to the city of Quito. His uncle was not moving with them and distance communication was not something Franky liked. Thus, as some sort of homage to his role model, Franky began to adapt Martian mannerisms into his behavior and attitude, though subconsciously. He lived a normal childhood until then.
By age eight, his school picked up on the boy's great potential. Franky did not try hard at school, but his teachers saw what a higher education could accomplish. Reluctantly, his family accepted sending their third son to the Prep Center, where the boy spent about a year and nine months. I was nothing special to him. Now, he's been let into the Aznable, while his only wish is to quickly get school over with so he'll be able to visit his uncle in Guayaquil.
