Title: Historical Documentation Update

The year 2136 A.C.E. started as any other had before it for the race of Homo sapiens, yet by the end of February, the Earth failed to recognize the human population as the dominant species of life upon it.

On May 6th, an international energy-trading company, by the name of Malum Energy Sources, Inc., secretly began a drilling project in Tunguska, Russia to reach an unknown “article of interest” deep beneath the ice and the permafrost. The drilling continued until the company reached the desired depth, penetrating the mysterious object and triggering its true purpose. At approximately 4:06 P.M. of what used to be Central Time, an unknown burst of energy eviscerated Tunguska and its immediate surroundings, sending a shockwave of K-wave radiation (from here on to be known as The Burst) across the globe, killing approximately all but 0.00042% of all human life on the planet while leaving the rest of creation unharmed. Unfortunately, only 0.0001% of those surviving humans would remain as such.

Created in 2112 and laying underwater off of the coast of the Maldives, the Contegon was a beacon of scientific research dedicated to the renewal of the planet and the survival of the human race while in commune with nature. The facility allowed for the comfortable living of the numerous scientists and other members of its staff and their families (along with room for several thousand more) which commonly populated it. Stretching across the sea floor with elevators and expulsion shafts, providing access to the surface of the surrounding islands, the Contegon (for yet unknown reasons) and the majority of its 7,220 inhabitants remained unaffected by The Burst.

However, a group of 124 humans made up of military personnel, scientists and their families, and administrative officials were retrieving several shipments of equipment placed among the surface of the various islands surrounding the Contegon when The Burst reached them. Instantaneously knocking out all communications from the islands and the Contegon to the mainland, the K-Waves slowly began to change the very genetic make-up of those few who had been on the surface. Over the next two months, they would all begin to discover they had gained various abilities, yet remained aesthetically human for all intents and purposes. Unfortunately, many others who remained alive across the world were not so fortunate, for the changes they underwent were not slow or pleasant by any means and for some they brought such pain as to push them to the brink of insanity.

We now live in a world where there exist, what can loosely be defined as, seven species of human beings. Those in the Contegon stayed as they were: perfectly human. From what we have gathered, the remaining humans were transformed into the following:

In the exact location where the suns gravitational pull was the strongest (Morocco), The Burst caused light and the wind which carried the K-Wave to bond with Homo phoebus, now known as Sky-Walkers.

On the opposite side of the earth (Australia), the Burst bonded darkness and a thirst for energy with Homo adificio (Leeches).

And in the same manner, in the location where the moon’s pull was greatest (Indonesia), Homo aequor (Atlanteans) were bound to the water of the seas.

While on the other side of the planet (Chile), the Burst liberated Homo sillicis (Titans) from their living bodies and bonded them with the stones and minerals beneath their feet.

There are rumors that those first exposed to the Burst were transformed into creatures of pure energy, and though these are merely rumors for the moment, it is possible for these “Wraiths” to exist.

Finally, there are those 124 who were not altered in appearance, but only in power. For the purpose of putting order to this strange world, we were renamed as well, and are now Homo salvifico; though, we prefer to be called, Guardians.

The Contegon is the last stronghold of humanity and the only operational scientific institute left on the planet, making it a desirable target for those who wish for nothing more than to be returned to humanity, and although we have for the moment formed a tentative alliance with the Atlanteans, it is we, the Gaurdians, who stand as humanity’s last hope and defense.

Unfortunately, there are still question that remain. What was beneath the ground in Tunguska? What do the positions of the moon and sun have to do with the creation of these other branches of humanity? Why was the Contegon not affected?

With luck, there will be answers or at least clues to these upon my next update.

Title: Post-Burst Humanity

Homo phoebus or Sky-Walkers: Born of the sunlight and wind, the Sky-Walkers are human in appearance, though they have several characteristics which give them away almost instantly. To begin, they give off a constant light which intensifies with in response to their emotions; in fact, they seem to be made entirely of light, though they do have the ability to touch and interact with others. This light takes on different colors and shades, unique to that Sky-Walker. Next, they float above the ground, unable to make contact with anything beneath them. It is a curious trait, for while they are able to touch and interact with those around them; their bodies always seem to resist gravity through a constant flow of air, forcing them from solid ground. Last, Sky-Walkers are each partially translucent, allowing for some camouflage during the daytime. It has been rumored that the Sky-Walkers can control their abilities of translucency, light production, and air manipulation; though, these claims have not been thoroughly documented.

Homo adificio or Leeches: Drenched in darkness and without the energy of the sun, Leeches became starved and unstable creatures. They have pure black skin and black eyes, as well, which allow them ample camouflage in the darkness. It is not sure exactly how, but they seem to have the ability to absorb K-Wave radiation from the earth and other survivors, stabilizing their health; however, the radiant radiation is not enough to live off of, and thus: they have become predators. It is for this reason that the Leeches have the most need of the Contegon, for without a cure, they will eventually run out of “food” and fade away. The weaker the Leech becomes, the more intangible they become, eventually being able to walk through walls and move within shadows.

Homo sillicis or Titans: Pulled down into the Earth by the gravitational force of the moon, the Titans were drawn into that which receded, losing their human bodies and having their minds and consciousness forced by unknown means into the soil and stones around them. Their bodies are entirely comprised of stones and minerals, giving them the appearance of the mythical golems. Extremely resilient and without a sure-set way of being returned to human form or even killed, Titans tend to lead solitary existences, due to the fact that they do not have any physical needs. The Titans have demonstrated the ability to move the ground beneath them to create dwellings, resembling those they lived in while human, though this power could be used for more destructive purposes.

Homo aequor or Atlanteans: Drawn away from the islands with the sea by the gravitational pull of the moon, a small population of Indonesians were imbued with the waters which moved with them. Although, fairly human in appearance, the Atlanteans are not without their deformities: their skin ranges in color anywhere from blue to green and incorporates patterns of iridescent scales across the surface. Upon their forearms and calves are large, collapsible fins, which, along with webbed hands and feet, give them the ability to flow easily through the water. Atlanteans possess a set of gills just below their jaw and another beneath their arms. The males are generally without hair, while the females possess flowing strands of prehensile tendrils of various colors growing from their heads, increasing their prowess in the water. Finally, Atlanteans somehow have the ability to move the water, control tides, and communicate (or fool) oceanic life-forms.

Homo salvifico or Guardians: It seems that the Contegon provided some form of protection to those on the surface, as well as, those within. While retrieving the supplies upon the islands, the K-Waves washed over the men and women on the surface, altering their genetic structure. Amazingly, the 124 on the surface (82 military, 23 management and administrative officials, 12 scientists, and 7 miscellaneous family members) were not removed from a human appearance, appearing the same upon their return as they did when they had left for the surface; however, it became clear over the next several months that they were anything but normal. Each began to demonstrate abilities and powers which seemed akin to magic, but which could each be entirely explained. Two of the children caught in the blast developed pre-cognitive abilities with the capability of remote viewing and a form of telepathy which relies on emotions instead of pure thoughts, while others have gained more physical strengths. Each is now physically superior to any human by an estimated factor of two: this includes in strength, speed, resilience, etc. It is curious to note that some of these abilities and talents rival those which were written about in the “comic books” of the mid-twentieth century in to the twenty-first, though it is clear these are less fantastical than their counterparts. The Guardians have begun training themselves and have formed into a regiment similar to the (now disbanded) military presence on the base, having put it upon themselves to protect the remaining humans.


Notes:

Wraiths: There have been reports from Atlanteans of seeing glowing figures, appearing from seemingly nothing, wandering about the surface or even venturing for short time periods through the oceans. We have proceeded to give these the name of “Wraiths” for their spectral and ghostly tendencies. These figures appear for a short time and then disappear again. While their origins and intentions are unclear, it is theorized that they may hold some clue to the true nature of The Burst.

This is my first full RP in at least a year or so; therefore, I apologize ahead of time for typos, plot holes, and any unforeseen issues that I should have foreseen.

Title: High Commander

Name: Richard MacMahon

Age: 56

Race: Homo salvifico

Abilities/Mastery: Being a Guardian, Richard MacMahon is gifted with physical perfection and enhanced strength, speed, etc. that all Guardians possess; however, Richard’s ability has progressed him one step further and rewired his brain and body to speed up immensely with the introduction of adrenaline. With the introduction of adrenaline into his system, Richard’s brain begins processing at a faster rate, as well as releasing the full potential of his muscles. This provides for extreme reaction times (causing the world around him to slow to a crawl), increased muscle strength and potential (allowing Richard to be stronger than the normal Guardian and fast than the eye can perceive), and elevated thought processing speed (giving him the ability to tactically plan and process an entire encounter in seconds).

Appearance: Richard has a soldier’s build, standing at 6’2” and weighing 220 lbs. Scars litter his paling olive skin, including several deep remnants slashed into his chest. His face is square cut and serious in its fashion with a slightly lowered brow, prominent jaw, and strong cheek bones. His dark brown eyes convey a stern attitude, yet give away his true emotions at the moments when he least desires. Generally, Richard keeps his dark brown hair cut to a very short length for both practicality and the military connotations it brings with it. His body is built to last, muscled and built for combat, but not to the point of being unwieldy or bulky.

Clothing: Richard appears to always be prepared for a battle. In truth, he feels a comfort in being prepared and the authority that comes from communicating strength and leadership with his appearance. At his least, Richard is always wearing black combat boots which reach his mid-calf and contain knives in either one. With this are military issue cargo pants of either black, khaki, or camouflage coloring and a tactical belt covered in pouches and pockets, containing any number of tactical objects. He also wears a tight-fitting short sleeved shirt in generally black or white.
When on alert, Richard wears a bullet proof vest and a tactical jacket along with everything already mentioned, so he might gain protection, yet keep his mobility at its highest levels.

History: When asked, Richard never gives a straight answer to his past before The Burst, letting his Scottish accent speak for itself; however, his record of events follows along the lines of this: on the day of The Burst, Richard was the commanding officer over the retrieval operation, as well as the Commander of Alpha Team on the southern-most island. The K-Waves reached the island, causing those on the surface to instantly lose consciousness, Richard being no exception. Upon coming to, Richard ordered the 124 to return to the Contegon without the supplies. Only hours later, the first of the two children who became pre-cognitive became overwhelmed with a vision of the future, revealing the nature of those on the surface. It soon became clear that the world had changed and via search parties and reconnaissance teams, it was confirmed that the K-Waves had spared only the Contegon and those others that were outside the compound. The governments of the world were no more, and so: Richard took up the gauntlet of bringing order to chaos, organizing the Guardians into a formal force of protection, training them with the help of his abilities, and accommodating the chain of command as it moved away from the military and government, and towards the scientists and administration. Now, he acts as the head of the Guardians, treading the careful line between becoming a tool and being a threat.

Extra: There is far more to Richard MacMahon’s story; however, he has yet to reveal any more about himself.

Title: Dawn Highlord, Battle Title: The Thunderfury
Name: Felix Lastros
Full Title: Dawn Highlord Felix Lastros, the Thunderfury
Age: Recently past his 30th Cycle.
Race: Homo phoebus

Abilities/Mastery: Being one of the 5 Dawn Highlords, Felix has shown incredible ability to mastery and manipulate wind currents to almost singular molecular passages. This was demonstrated upon his 25th cycle in which he was able to cut through a Titan's arm- extremity via extremely focused wind. He emits a very, very very light green glow from around his body, which isn't entirely normal for a "sky-walker" such as himself. No real explanation can be derived from this as he has emitted this glow since birth, Post-Burst. His eyes/iris/pupils also are enveloped by this verdant glow. He also has his natural abilities of bioluminescence to almost tangible levels.

Appearance: Felix hovers from tip of his toe to the top of one of his tussled locks at roughly 6'4, making him relatively lanky for a Sky-walker. As stated in his abilities, he has a unique glow (making him one of 2 Highlords with a varied glow---The Scarlet Highlord has almost a Dark red/crimson pink aura) His hair is greenish white. Once again, growing up as an "Ugly" Sky-walker, perhaps forced him to focus intently to reach the title of Highlord.

Clothing: This is a total cop out, but he wears similar style of clothing as this render. However with Highlord Meetings, he wears a golden green robe over this---ever ready to change at a moments notice into more "durable" and flexive clothing.


History: Obtained Rank of Dawn Lord after his 25th cycle. Obtained Dawn Highlord Ranking in the A'ire, after his 28th Cycle. He is currently the youngest Dawn Highlord, and is one of the most feared. He, like the Scarlet Highlord, are not as well respected due to their varied 'auras', and henceforth placed lower in command in the A'ire Highlords. ---the Scarlet Highlord is actually the oldest Highlord on the Council.

Extra: Is one of the Highlords of the A'ire, almost to that of a 'Warrior' caste of Sky-walkers. They exist to broker relations with the other subspecies of humanity, however---like their physical hindrance, they look down upon most other races, giving them a sense of arrogance to their already flighty demeanor. His parents were 'consumed' by Leeches the moment of his 14th cycle. Has since dedicated his life to 'eradicating' the Leeches from Earth.

This means: the original Burst generation should be no younger than 40 or so.

It also means that there are more than 124 Guardians (reproduction and all) and the original two pre-cogs may have had children with similar abilities.

Abilities/Mastery: Bruxinha has the general perks of being a run of the mill Guardian, along with her own special brand of ass-kicking. Bruxinha's power is the altering of senses. It's so subtle, it's almost unnoticeable. One minute you think you see this lady, and then...well, it must have been a trick of the lights. Bruxinha's skill is such that even a clear view of her can become an imperceivable blotch. She can be stomping on the ground, but yet all you hear is your own breathing. She can brush her hand along your neck, but all you feel is that itch on your face from earlier.

Appearance: Young. Dark brown skin. Parents from Brazil. Afro-Brazilians. So dark skin. Dark hair, black. Shiny. Likes hair. Keeps it clean, that's important. Good first impression. Shoulders. Down to shoulders. Eyes are strange. Not brown like most. Light. Almost yellow. Disturbing. Doesn't like them. Look like a cat's. Too creepy. Tries to hide them. That's hard. Piercing. Scary.
Tall. Measurements...5'9. Tall for a woman. Strong. Solid. Not going to fly away when a wind comes. Wants to be strong. Works out. Stays strong. Never weak. Always strong. Tough. Muscles. Strong arms, legs. Muscular? Yes. Not an average scientist. Always strong.
Does need glasses. Cumbersome. Eyes scary, cause problems. Other scientists say 'legally blind'. Not good. Need to be better.

History: Parents were scientists on the Contegon. Was born some time after the Burst. Not much of note. Always wanted to be a scientist. Quite smart. Many people noted this. Lots of offers. Very advanced learning. Always took on more than could really handle. Good at multitasking, not good enough for workload though. Solid social skills. Few friends, but close to those few.
Disliked peers. Never saw a reason to stick around. Parents distant. Not mean. Just distant. Heard of possibility that there was data on the Burst. Not on the Contegon. Elsewhere. Outside. In the world.
Left safe environment. Used powers to stay hidden, undetectable. Quite good at it. Learned how to get around obstacles instead of blasting them away. Smart girl. Didn't need lots of strength. Have it, do not need it. Useful at times.
Encountered friendly male. Name 'Jared'. Friends. Then more. Strangely exciting. Dead now. Doesn't know why. Illness? Possible. Murder? Probable. Jared's fate ultimately irrelevant. Nice person, good friend, but too slow. Not quick enough to keep up. Will miss him. But cannot get attached.
Searching for data on the Burst. After ten years, still knows very little, more than the average post-Burst but not enough. Nowhere near enough. Must know it all. Must know more than everyone.

"Dark here. Said that a lot lately, really. Turns out it didn't used to be so dark before things went down. Too bad. I like light. Don't get much of it in my line of work. Generally have to distort it to trick people's eyes. Works well. Rambling. Most thieves are quiet. Shutting up now."

Extra: Strange way of speaking. Sometimes leaves out words. Quicker that way. When time is not scarce, speaks normally. Usually when relaxing. Otherwise, peculiar speech is omnipresent. Dislikes certain kinds of people. Mostly those smarter. Makes sense. Dangerous. Not good kind to be around. Keeps in touch with Contegon. Contact her when needed, which is often. Sends useful things that she has no use for. Helpful. Keeps them from exiling her officially. Useful.

Title: Cadet.

Name: Benicio Cortés Vidal.

Age: 49.

Race: Homo sillicis.

Mastery: Benicio hasn’t fully mastered the ability to manipulate the harsh earth below him. Unlike a few of his counterparts [other Titans], he saw no need in having to learn when his fists could solve most of his problems [similar to his life prior to becoming a Titian. He was an amateur boxer]. He doesn’t quite understand what he is fully capable of and has currently enlisted into the Titian military to further his training.

Appearance: Before becoming a Titan, Benicio was a very handsome Chilean man. Standing firm at 6’5, he was quite intimidating to the public before being engulfed in the rock he now calls his body. Benicio now stands much taller than his old height at 10’9, growing more than an entire four feet of stone in height not to mention more in weight as well. His body is extremely jagged throughout because of the rock, but unlike a lot of other Titian, Benicio just isn’t a few boulders sloppily placed. He still appears very human esque all over his entire body. With big, bulging arms, a defined torso, and legs all crafted to look like a human, Benny would prefer looking this way than taking on the appearance of just a slab of rock. His face though isn’t as distinctly made as his body is though, causing him to be fairly angry about it. His face, in very little words, seems to be just a connection to his body. The brow is heavily pronounced as are what used to be his [high] cheekbones and his jawline. He no longer possesses a nose or eyes, but he still has a mouth and is able to talk from it. [Though, it took quite some time learning to speak once again] Although it’s been thirty something years since the transformation caused by The Bursts, Benicio hasn’t fully come to terms with his condition. No longer is he human, look human, or do daily activities he normally would have had he been human [such as eat, sleep, ect]. His mind seems to be mentally and emotionally attached to being age nineteen, despite nearing fifty in a few months. Part of him cannot fully move on with life because of depression from not moving on with his life as well as a severe lack of social communication with other people. He seems to have an angry disposition against life now.

Clothing: Unfortunately, Benny doesn’t wear any clothing. Not that it would matter considering he’s no longer human. There most likely wouldn’t be any clothing able to fit him anyway.

History: For what seemed like almost all of his life, Benny had trained to become a professional boxer. He’d perfected his jabs and his uppercuts were sensational, as well as the many other techniques he’d gone on to use in his undefeated time as a young amateur. The day the blasts happened, a day he’ll never forget, was actually the day he was readying to take the leap from novice to professional. He’d gone outside for a jog, something he did every morning, when a strange color of red overtook the usually blue skies. Before he knew it, thick smog surrounded the entire ground and airways. The ground shook crazily, almost as if it’d been a mixture of an earthquake and a sandstorm. Little did he know that something more horrible was going to happen, but he continued to make his rounds any way. He assumed the couple of minutes wouldn’t hurt any. He needed as much exercise as possible. Or so he’d thought. Ignoring the signs of tragedy, Benicio continued to jog around the block when he’d soon been swept up and overtaken by the sandstorm. His body screamed in agony. Not only had he been surrounded in sand, but ever worse he could not do anything to stop getting crushed by heavy boulders and the like. It was the most excruciating pain he’d gone through in his entire life. More painful than a blow the face, a bullet to the heart, a bus to the body, everything rolled up in one.
Upon awaking the very next morning, or what seemed as though the next morning, Benicio couldn’t help but cry out from the distinct difference in his appearance. His life was over, but not in the literal sense. There was just a side of him that needed to know why all this would happen and why to him?
