“Fujira, Aomori Prefecture. A suburb of the Cherry Blossom City of Hirosaki that sprung up not long after the atomic bomb fell. The residential area boasts a population of a moderate sized town, sporting a pair of elementary and secondary schools in a relatively low-crime and safe environment. Most festive activities occur in the winter season, where the streets are blanketed with snow throughout the period. Public transportation via shuttles makes for approximately-“
“eh-Excuse me senpai, but who are you talking to?” A puzzled passerby first year girl asked. It was a reasonable enough of a question. Most folks don’t address empty classrooms, especially not about the present setting and in such an expository manner.
“Expository is a good word. Today’s homework is to use ‘expository’ in a sentence without sounding silly.” The young man gave a stout bow to the empty series of desks. “Arigato! Class dismissed!” With a broad smile reaching ear to ear, he turned over to address the onlooker who…was no longer there. His smile turned upside-down. Then he turned once more to face the class. Particularly, the seat you are sitting in.
“Onegai, watchful spirit. Please help me save Fujira from it’s horrible fate. I can’t do it alone-I’ve midterms to study for, you know?”

Welcome! So what are you? Well, you’re a (hopefully!) good-natured spirit who’s detected the sort of spiritual anomalies that have been occurring around Fujira as of late. Activity has soared over recent weeks, more strange happenings and weird occurrences and sightings then you can shake a naginata at. The Resident Spirit Sensitive Individual (RSSI) has asked for you aid, and for one reason or another you have answered the call. Unfortunately for Fujira, their RSSI is a 3rd year highschool student who’s a bit off his rocker.
Of course in your current form you are of little use. That is why you must possess the soul of a student. Perhaps ‘possess’ isn’t the best word…has a rather negative connotation with it. It’s more like sharing, sort of. Your memories as a spirit disappear and your personality merges with theirs. Slowly your abilities you had as a spirit will return to you, but having no idea how to use them…well, it’s going to be a fun semester!
But something all possessed students have in common is this: the desire to join the newly formed demon fighting squad, the Oni Hunting Kaisho! Needless to say, nobody takes you seriously, especially with a well-known crazy as the chairman.
Before I get to the bio format I’m going to lay down some ground rules. I like rules, and I expect more than most folks from my writers.
1. Be literate and space your paragraphs. Good formatting is key my friends! A block of text is not inviting to the eyes.
2. We’ve got a lot of Japanese flavor going on. Realize that I’m no master on the Japanese culture, and I don’t expect you to be either. But using Japanese words and mannerisms (research!) in your posts is definitely looked favorably upon. I want to keep the theme up! For character pictures use Japanese anime characters (there’s tons of them online) to help get yourself in the Nippon state of mind.
3. Uniqueness. Strong Personality. These two things are what I look for most in a character. Make your character different from all the others-that’s important for any interesting story. Strong personality-exaggerate your character! By biggest pet peeve with writers is that their characters are so darn bland and generic! Nobody wants to have weaknesses, so there’s no depth! Don’t give me any “she’s a loner but will ttly stand up for her friends” business. If she’s a loner then make she’s a loner gosh darnit!
4. There’s a Wikipedia article on legendary Japanese creatures. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legendary_creatures_from_Japan
Refer to this when creating your character. Remember, uniqueness! ^-^
5. Foreign exchange students. *rolls eyes* I’ve got a feeling we’d have a flood of half-Japanese half-American half-French (how does that happen?) exchange students if I didn’t put this out here. For the most part, you’re just a normal Japanese student. Remember, there’s tons of cliques you can draw from when creating your character. I’ll allow one foreign exchange student so go ahead and fight over the spot if you want it so bad. (Hint: best bio will win! )
