Why hello, WEE, and welcome to the end of the world!
Yes, this RP is based in the end of world but it isn’t a zombie/alien/whatever RPG. It is merely an example of how human would react to conditions in a world where most of the world’s population is gone and luxuries (electricity, food, water, gas, etc.) we take for granted are no longer readily available. What will we do to survive?
I’m trying to simplify this RP as far as structure, relatively short bios and not many rules. Everyone will start off in Chicago on June 16th. From there, it’s up to you what your character does. If you want to stay in the city, go for it. If you want to leave, leave. Stay together with the other characters or strike out on your own. Just know that I will be throwing curveballs at each of the characters. I won’t have a set character of my own, but I’ll be controlling all of the NPCs and I’ll be in charge of the weather and whatnot.
Every once in a while you’ll see me post things like this:
It begins to rain above John’s head and turns the dirt beneath him to mud quickly. The mud makes it hard for him to walk and he falls.”
OR
“A man emerges from the house, a shotgun drawn and aimed at Amy’s chest. “You got five seconds to get out of here before I put a hole through you”
You’ll have to react to the things I write and do it well because one false move could mean serious injury for your characters death.
You’re allowed to introduce NPC (ex: you come across a man sitting outside a barn) but I’ll have control over him after you introduce him. You can describe what he looks like if you like or I can do it. However, I’ll often introduce random characters into your stories to spice things up. Some of these characters will be around for a while and some of them might only be there for a second. Depends on my plans for them.
That’s pretty much it; the rest should be pretty explanatory. So here’s the bio skeleton!
Name(first and last):
Age(whatever catches your fancy):
Appearance(picture is fine):
History(should be the most detailed but not ridiculous. Explain a little bit of who they were before the pandemic and what they did once it began):
Opener(Write a few paragraphs of how they are starting out June 16th):
Sample Bio:
Name: Jackson Reinhart
Age: 34
Appearance:
History: Jackson lived a comfortable life in a suburb of Chicago with his wife, Ellie, and his five year old daughter Amanda. He worked as a trash collector, which gave him enough money that he didn’t have to worry but not enough that he was rich by any means. As the disease migrated to the states, his wife quickly contracted it. She died three days after showing the first signs. Luckily, they were able to get her into the hospital and keep here away from Amanda and him, leaving them both uninfected. The growing unrest, riots and looting in the city forced him to decide to evacuate. He’s leaving first thing June 16th.
Opener: Jackson looked through his sock drawer frantically, tossing garments on the floor without a second thought. He knew it was in there, he hadn’t moved it in years and Ellie hadn’t even known it was in there. She would have been appalled by it, so he decided to keep it to himself. One the drawer was empty; he saw it lying there next to a box of ammunition. He removed the revolver from the drawer and checked the cylinder. It was loaded. Good, he thought. He shoved the box of ammo into his backpack and tucked the revolver into his pocket.
“What’s that, daddy?” Amanda, his daughter, asked from the bed. Her long, blonde tresses cascades down her face and she blew them out of her face.
Jackson turned to his daughter and put on as convincing of a smile as he could muster, “It’s nothing, sweetie,” he said, “Time to go.”
“Where are we going?” she asked as her father picked her up and placed her on the ground.
“We’re going to see grandma down in Texas,” he replied and he helped her put her backpack on. He then retrieved the boxes of food and water he had packed and walked to the door. Before opening it, he looked moved the curtain on the window and looked outside. No one was there, thankfully. Looters had been running rampant through the surrounding neighborhoods and he knew it was only a matter of time before they found his home. It pained him to know that he’d probably never see this house again. His hand went to the chain around his neck and he clasped the wedding ring for only a moment before opening the door.
“Okay, sweetie. Run to the car and don’t stop until you get in.” he said to Amanda.
She nodded and ran to the car, a smile on her face like she was playing a game. She flung the door open and soon was inside with her father, driving toward Texas. Jackson knew his mother wasn’t there anymore but he thought maybe something could be down there. All he knew was he had to get out of the city. Chicago wasn’t safe.
So there ya go. Not much to it. If you have any questions, ask away. I’m sure I left something confusing or unanswered in there. So, bio post away!
